JOHNNY SAUTER
Haas Racing - #70 Radioactive Energy - NASCAR
2006 marked Johnny Sauter’s sixth season of competition in the NASCAR Busch Series and after turning in consistent weekly performances, he finished eighth in the final standings. Partnering for the first time this season with technology-based Haas CNC Racing, while continuing his relationship with primary sponsor Yellow Transportation, Sauter captured one pole, two top-five, eight top-10 and 18 top-15 finishes.

“We were able to be successful due to the team resources, the guys who supported me and the fact that everyone at Yellow put their confidence in me for another season,” Sauter said. “We went into every week focused on the win but 2006 was probably the most competitive season in Busch Series history. Everyone put in their best effort and in the end, we were able to give Yellow their first-ever top-ten points finish.”

Known for his aggressive style, Sauter says he approached the 2006 season with the same tenacity he’s become known for over the years, but with a focus on making wiser choices.
“The best way to explain it is I’ve learned the difference between being overly aggressive and being aggressive in a productive way,” said Sauter. “Our focus was to take a smart and calculated approach to the entire season through one race at a time with the overall goal being to create winning possibilities through preparation and teamwork. I’m proud of the performance of Team Yellow in 2006 and look to build on our progress in the coming season.”

JOHNNY SAUTER FINISHES 5TH IN CHEVY ROCK & ROLL 400
September 8, 2007

Johnny Sauter driving the Radioactive Energy Drink #70 Chevrolet finished 5th in the Chevy Rock & Roll 400 at Richmond International Speedway in Virginia after starting from the 35th position. He ran 165 laps of 400 in the top 10.

Congratulations Johnny Sauter! Moving up those 30 spots from the start and finishing 5th earned him the USG "Improving the Finish" award given to the driver who best improves their finish from the green flag to the checkered flag during each Nextel Cup race. He had to fight hard for every position. This was Sauters's best finish of the 2007 racing season so far.

Jimmie Johnson won the event in the Lowe's Chevy, followed by Tony Stewart Home Depot Chevy , David Ragan in the AAA Ford, and Jeff Gordon in the DuPont/Nicorette Chevrolet.

July 29, 2007

Johnny Sauter and Team Yellow Racing finished 37th in the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard on Sunday in front of an estimated crowd of 270,000 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Sauter overcame an accident on lap 55 to return to track and gain enough points to move into 33rd place in Nextel Cup driver points, unofficially.

Accident Video

Sauter, who started his first-ever race at the famed speedway in the 39th position, battled his way as high as 21st and was running in the 24th spot when he got caught up in an accident that began when cars driven by Casey Mears and Elliott Sadler collided and spun entering turn three. The Team Yellow Racing crew worked furiously in the garage to repair significant damage to the No. 70 Chevy and get Sauter back on the track. He returned in the 39th position and advanced two more spots to secure the 37th-place finish.

Tailgating

Atlanta Motor Speedway [Link] is one of the most fan-friendly tracks on the circuit, has great tailgating, features plenty of three-wide racing -- and there's not a bad seat in the house. What more could you ask for? The city of Atlanta is legendary for a lot of things, and one of them is traffic! Bring a map that shows U.S. highways and state roads.
